Why does China control 90%+ of the world’s rare earths, and what can the West do to fight back? In this eye-opening conversation, SCP Resource Finance CEO David Wargo joins Trey Reik to explain how China monopolized one of the world’s most strategic industries and why rare earths are now a frontline weapon in the U.S.-China trade war. With China already cutting off critical mineral exports, including rare earths, the West is being forced to scramble for new sources and rebuild its industrial base. David breaks down the rare earths that really matter (neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, terbium), why they’re essential to EVs, robotics, and wind power, and why the West is years behind due to decades of offshoring. He also reveals two companies best positioned for the coming reindustrialization push and hunger for Rare Earths: MEI and EFR. With geopolitical urgency rising and policy momentum building, the rare earth sector now faces strong tailwinds, making it one of the most compelling long-term opportunities in global investing.
