A Statement on Episode 112 Since Episode 112 aired, it's been brought to our attention that our guest, Brenden Borrowman, was caught in multiple lies about his military service, especially about being wounded and shot overseas while deployed with the 4-4 CAV, and about men who were truly wounded or killed over there, stories that came out of his mouth as his own and were lies. Once those clips went viral, hundreds of you reached out (emails, messages, DMs) about the lies and the misrepresentation. I don't know what would possess a man to come on this show to promote his business and blatantly lie to my face, and to the millions of you who tune in every week for real, raw, honest stories. That is a betrayal, of me, of you, and of everything this show is built on. When it came to light, Brenden came to me directly, admitted his wrongs, and said he wanted to make it right. As a man, I respect and honor that he owned it. But this isn't a single mistake. Since his face hit millions of views across every platform, people have come out of the woodwork (former business partners, associates, military members, friends) telling us this is his MO, that he's been living off these lies for over a decade, going from company to company. We've also been told that the neuro work and research he presented as his own were founded and funded by others. The picture they paint is of a man with ulterior motives who will do whatever it takes to benefit himself. We took our time with this and did our due diligence. I know better than most how cutthroat and knee-jerk the veteran community can be, and I wasn't going to swing on emotion. But after everyone we've spoken to and the hundreds of messages, it's clear. Here's where we land, because I'm a man of being just and fair. We are not removing the episode or his content. I will not let someone come on, lie, get caught, and then hide behind those lies by asking us to scrub them after they're already out in the world. His words stay up, with a disclaimer, as a record of his true character ...even if it's after the fact. The one thing we are removing, out of respect for the men of 4-4 CAV who were lost or wounded overseas: their names and those portions of the episode. Those men earned their stories. He doesn't get to wear them, and they don't get dragged into his lies. And we're going to make it right the only way that matters by handing the mic to the men who were actually there.
