Lizzie Borden became one of the most infamous names in American true crime after her father and stepmother were brutally murdered in their Fall River, Massachusetts, home in August 1892. The nursery rhyme claims she took an axe to both of them, but the truth is far more complicated. Andrew and Abby Borden were killed in separate attacks, the murder weapon was never conclusively identified, and despite mounting suspicions about Lizzie’s behavior, she was found not guilty. The investigation was riddled with unanswered questions. Lizzie’s explanations about her whereabouts changed, a dress she burned days after the murders raised suspicions, and investigators found bloody cloths in the basement that were never properly tested. But there was no eyewitness, no conclusive physical evidence linking her to the killings, and no other person was ever convicted. More than 130 years later, the central question remains: did Lizzie get away with murder, or did the public turn an acquitted woman into a legendary killer? Now, Ryan Murphy’s dramatized Netflix series has brought renewed attention to the case, adding fictionalized relationships and family drama to an already complicated story. From speculation about Lizzie’s relationship with her maid Bridget Sullivan to her later friendship with actress Nance O’Neil and her devastating estrangement from her sister Emma, Lizzie’s life after the trial was full of mysteries of its own. The rhyme may have made her infamous, but it never proved she was guilty. Do you think Lizzie Borden killed her parents, or was she convicted in the court of public opinion despite being acquitted in court? #TrueCrimeRecaps #LizzieBorden #AndrewBorden #AbbyBorden #BridgetSullivan #NanceONeil #EmmaBorden #LizzieBordenCase #AmericanTrueCrime Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNbo_wIXXSbeJC5VoauEeVg/join SUBSCRIBE TO THE YOUTUBE SHOW!
