He argued that Ukraine and European governments still harbor “illusions” about inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia and lack an objective understanding of the battlefield situation or the consequences of continued fighting. Analyst Larry Johnson (ex-CIA), just back from Russia, agrees that the military balance has shifted decisively. He says Ukrainian defensive lines are collapsing and Russia is advancing rapidly, with Ukraine suffering unsustainable losses: roughly 40,000 killed/wounded per month plus 20,000–40,000 deserters, while it can mobilize only around 17,000 men monthly. Johnson argues the math shows Ukraine’s position is deteriorating beyond recovery. Johnson also notes that until very recently Russia had not even received the U.S. plan in written form—suggesting Washington drafted and circulated it among Europeans and Kyiv without directly engaging Moscow. He says the plan includes items Russia cannot accept, but Moscow is still willing to treat it as a “basis for discussion,” unlike Ukraine, which immediately rejected it. Zelensky, in his own remarks, admitted the U.S. is pressuring him to accept the plan and that Washington had set November 27 as a deadline. He framed acceptance as surrendering “justice” and “freedom,” but Johnson argues Ukraine now faces the more fundamental question of national survival given accelerating battlefield losses. Johnson suggests the leak of the plan may have been deliberate—possibly to expose Ukraine as the party refusing negotiations while Russia positions itself as open to talks. He emphasizes that Russian officials he met remain confident, citing historical precedent (Napoleon 1812, Hitler 1941): Russia will push westward as far as it needs to ensure security. Overall, the segment portrays: Russia as militarily ascendant and open to negotiations on its terms. Ukraine as collapsing militarily and politically cornered. The U.S. as pressuring Kyiv but still misunderstanding Russian red lines. Europe as unrealistic about conditions on the ground.
