Nolan Wells had two autopsies performed on his body. One by the state of Mississippi. One by an independent pathologist in Washington, D.C. The independent results came back undetermined. But buried inside that finding is something neither the family's legal team nor law enforcement is saying out loud. The autopsy answered one of the two central questions in this case. The question it answered isn't the one anybody's talking about. The question it couldn't answer is the one both sides are using to support their position. And the file that could settle everything — the state's completed examination from July 7 — hasn't been released. No fractures were found. No deep tissue injuries. No lacerations. But the pathologist couldn't determine how Nolan entered the water or whether he was conscious when he did. Those are two different questions with two different answers. This monologue separates them. Tony walks through what Dr. Roger Mitchell actually found, what the red discoloration on the back of Nolan's skull does and doesn't prove, why the limitations in the independent autopsy are standard forensic practice and not evidence of a cover-up, and why the most complete autopsy ever performed on Nolan Wells is sitting in a file in Jackson County that nobody outside law enforcement has seen.
