In this segment Jimmy speaks with Larry Bowen, president of the USS Liberty Veterans Association, who details the June 8, 1967 attack on the USS Liberty and the survivors’ longstanding claims that Israel deliberately attacked a ship it knew was American. Bowen disputes the official mistaken-identity explanation, describes reconnaissance flights, the attack and casualties, and says survivors were threatened if they publicly discussed the incident or their awards, while Jimmy brings up later allegations of a government cover-up and disputed evidence concerning Israeli knowledge of the ship’s identity. The conversation then focuses on efforts to obtain a congressional investigation and public recognition for the 34 Americans killed, including a 2026 House resolution associated with Rep. Thomas Massie, while Bowen argues that political considerations and pro-Israel lobbying have hindered further investigation. The segment concludes with Bowen urging viewers to contact Congress and visit the USS Liberty Veterans Association website, while the two broaden the discussion to U.S.-Israel relations and their own views about government accountability.
