"You have to be very careful not to internalize another person's rejection as your fault." "I thought that his rejection was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me, but it ended up being the thing that protected me from what could have been a horrific experience." "So I would chase and chase and chase until I realized, you know what? I think the role that she was supposed to play in my life has ended." "But then I recognized, too, oh, well, we really can't be in a relationship because I can't give you what you need from me. And that is, you need me to diminish myself so that you will feel better about yourself." "I've gotten to a place where I realize that if a person will take your offender's side without even asking about your experience, they don't love you anyway." "Something in me clicked, because I think it was just so many years of pain and hurt and abuse, and I had this anger inside of me that I didn't even know was there." "Her rejection became redirection. It became a closed door that forced me to take a detour I had not planned on taking, which is why I say rejection is a gift, because it will position you for purpose and you don't even realize it."
