Brent Hoberman is an entrepreneur and investor. He founded lastminute.com and made.com, both of which went on to be valued at 1 billion dollars. Being born in South Africa, from a Jewish family and moving to England to attend boarding school, Brent identifies being an immigrant and an outsider as a driving force in his work. He shares with Jake and Damian how he used his misfit status to create his own path, and now actively looks for outsiders and mavericks to work alongside him. They discuss how to build credibility as an entrepreneur and why this is so important. Brent doesn’t believe that anyone can be an entrepreneur, he reveals the traits and skills he looks for in young employees. After over 20 years of managing people and founding businesses, Brent shares the secret to finding the right employees, how to create and maintain a dynamic culture and how to find the benefit in controversy.
