Trump's comments came despite Iran ramping up attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran-backed militants in Yemen attacking energy facilities in Saudi Arabia. The US will keep a naval blockade of Iranian exports in place, and recently moved its B-1B bombers from a base in the United Kingdom due to possible Iran-linked threats.
