The mysterious death of Nolan Wells has become one of the tragic cases of the summer. Wells was an 18-year-old college football player who traveled by boat with friends to Horn Island, off the Mississippi Gulf Coast, for a Fourth of July celebration . Hours later, the boat he arrived on with his friends, left the island without him. Later that night, Nolan was reported missing, and two days later his body was discovered along the shoreline. Authorities have maintained that the circumstances are consistent with an accidental drowning, and a grand jury ultimately found no evidence of criminal conduct and declined to bring charges.
