In this episode of Recollections May Vary, Kinsey Schofield and Kevin O’Sullivan unpack Meghan Markle’s latest Montecito money grab. The “Her Best Life” retreat is being marketed as a luxury women’s weekend taking place April 17–19 at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, promising relaxation, empowerment and bonding with like-minded women. The centerpiece of the event is an intimate gala dinner and conversation with Meghan Markle, who is positioned as the headline attraction. Promotional materials highlight her acting career on Suits, her work with Archewell Philanthropies alongside Prince Harry, her podcast Archetypes, and her lifestyle brand As Ever. In other words, a very expensive girls’ weekend built around the chance to hear from the Duchess herself. Hard pass. Then Kev and Kinsey take a step back and revisit the Sussex business ventures that have stumbled since the couple stepped away from royal duties in 2020 to build their Hollywood “empire.” From the collapse of their Spotify deal after just one season of Archetypes, to mixed results from their Netflix partnership, to the chaotic rebrand of Meghan’s lifestyle company from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever, the pattern is becoming hard to ignore: big announcements, plenty of publicity, and very little staying power.
