“The only thing that's going to control these companies is government regulation.”

Government action is needed to limit the influence of tech figures who act against the public interest.

“I would love it if Britain led the way in saying, "I'm sorry, Mr. Musk, you know, you may be very powerful, you may be the richest man in the world, but you are now actually a force for bad in the world. And in so far as we can limit your influence within the United Kingdom, we are going to do it."”

Stacy argues that social media companies should be held liable for the harm caused by their products and that regulations could potentially be implemented to address these specific issues.

“The actual solution is yes, governmental legislation banning social media for kids under 18. Period. That is the thing we should be doing.”

He argues that teenagers under 16 should not have access to social media because there are no demonstrated benefits to it.

“I can't think of a single upside to somebody uh who's under the age of 16 having access to social media.”

Rahm Emanuel supports a blanket ban on social media apps for children under 16 because he believes algorithms are negatively influencing adolescents.

“I think we should follow Australia and ban social media apps for kids 16 and younger. And I think it's, you know, you're either when it comes to adolescence going to have an adult raise a child or you're going to have an algorithm. And right now the algorithms are winning”
