Trump's desire for a quick deal with Putin is being manipulated by Russia and causing the US to lose leverage in negotiations.

“Putin just knows like he can manipulate Trump with a little bit of flattery, a little bit of on Joe Biden. And so I just we we've conceded all our leverage in these talks.”

Trump's approach of appeasing Putin and ignoring established diplomatic preparation processes is ineffective and detrimental to US interests.

“I believe we should be using the levers of American power to achieve a result not just that's good for Ukraine because it matters for Ukraine obviously, but it also really deeply matters for Europe and it matters for the United States.”

Trump admires authoritarian leaders and prefers an international order where dictators rule with iron fists over a democratic, negotiated order.
