The most effective acting occurs when an actor feels vulnerable enough to fully trust and open up to the director.

“I believe the best stuff is when we're most vulnerable I've experienced that very rarely where I trust somebody so much they can literally take me anywhere and I'll go and I open up to them”

He intentionally chose a more serious role in 'The Smashing Machine' to push himself beyond the commercial blockbuster roles he had become pigeonholed in.

“So when I first read that script, I thought this is my shot at just ripping it open.”

The industry often struggles to provide content that authentically depicts the experience of being a gay adult.

“we don't get a ton of films and TV series that really in a very specific way tackle what it is to be a gay adult”

To be successful in the industry, one must possess the willingness to check their ego and endure professional struggles.

“there's a will you need to be willing to to go through a lot of crap drop a lot of check your ego at the door there's a lot you need to give up and be willing to give up not not bad stuff but be willing to give up to be successful”

Authenticity in acting is achieved by surrendering to the present moment rather than relying on perfectionist planning.

“And actually what I find as an actor is the fewer decisions I'm making, the more that I'm responding to things out of my control, the better, because it's authentic, I'm not acting, I'm reacting.”
