Kelly contends that individuals managing a family member's psychosis should not attempt to disprove their delusions, as that is their reality.

“A big thing is that I would say for every anybody to know when dealing with somebody going through delusions to not go against it, not to try to disprove what they're saying, but rather acknowledge it and try to move on to the next thing.”

Schizoaffective disorder is a difficult condition that involves delusions, hallucinations, and social impairment but does not necessarily progress like schizophrenia.

“Skezo effective is a not necessarily progressive the way schizophrenia is but it has some of the same symptomatology. They can appear odd. They can be socially completely sort of not perceiving things normally. They can become delusional. They can hallucinate.”
