Voters moved toward right-wing candidates in order to support policies that restore public order, such as harsher penalties for crime.

The high volume of criminal recidivism in Chicago proves the justice system is fundamentally broken.

“How is that system not broken? I I just don't get it. 73 times. How many time it It's a joke to me. It's a joke.”

She contends that current crime and safety issues require a comprehensive approach beyond law enforcement, including building up mental health capacity.

“we need to have mental health professionals who intervene first and that's one of the commitments that I made to the chief that I'm going to focus on really building up our mental health capacity so that people don't deteriorate to the point where they hurt others or hurt themselves”

She argues that the government must enforce strict penalties and prosecute criminals instead of showing leniency to prevent further violence.

“First of all, they need to start locking people's asses up. When you get in in the way of a federal officer doing their work, they put the handcuffs on you, they take you into detention, they take your name and information, and you get let go. That's got to stop.”

She believes that progressive policies are responsible for high crime rates in urban areas and that these policies ultimately harm the communities they intend to help.

“Progressive policies pulverize the people they purport to protect. That's what they do. That's what they do every time.”
