A man's role should involve being a provider, protector, and procreator, which means generating more value than one absorbs and protecting others.

“and so I I do think, you know, this kind of the three legs of the masculinity stool, provider, protector, procreator, I do think those are decent legs of the stool and what you the skills and strengths and attributes you want to develop to be all three of those things are loosely speaking uh what I ”

The perception of traditional masculine qualities as toxic is driven by the inability of lower-status men and competing interests to successfully match that level of strength and success.

“It's the reason why those high tea alpha characteristics of traditional masculinity are threatening is because you can't compete successfully. Low status men can't beat those men. Women can't beat those men in head-to-head competition.”

Chris Williamson argues that the current focus in male-oriented digital spheres is on efficiency and getting things done rather than on specific gender-based performative behaviors.

“I don't think that the Bro Archy or bro Politics as it's being kinded uh I don't think it's actually primarily about men and I think that's what's really interesting it's primarily about doing things that men typically have been good at which is just getting done”

Many men are struggling because they feel pressured to adopt an 'alpha' definition of masculinity that does not correlate with actual happiness or success in relationships.

“A lot of masculinity right now is men trying to become as manly as possible in the alpha sense. And that doesn't translate over into happiness. And that doesn't work.”

A man's purpose is found in providing, protecting, and remaining tender rather than just being strong.

“as a man you should be strong and you should be capable and you should be terrifying to threats and you should be tender toward your family and the people that you love”

Men tend to be unproductive or exist in a state of aimless scrolling between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. when they lack the domestic structure provided by a partner.

“guys over a certain age between the hours of 5 to 900 p.m. Like if the hours of 5 to 5 to 9:00 p.m. was 24 hours, I think the economy would go down by about 30%. Like we're just useless. Like nothing's happening. Um, it's scrolling, it's checking stuff, it's relaxing but stressing that you should be”

Healthy masculinity should be redefined to include emotional intelligence, service, empathy, and consideration for others.

“I want to build that up. I want I want them to be masculine. I want our boys to be masculine. But I think that in 2026, that needs to be redefined because we've like we've talked about throughout this entire episode, this pendulum has been swinging.”

Modern masculinity involves emotional intelligence, being willing to attend therapy, and serving one's spouse and family.

“I think it's so toxic this idea that like men can't cry. I'm like starting to embrace more of my like emotions now that I'm older, but I feel like I I don't I don't know what it was. I don't know if it was society, my parents, my my like community.”
