While not explicitly arguing a position on the biotech industry itself, he maintains that the administrative state should not have the authority to unilaterally regulate industries like biotechnology

“there's a legislative branch that makes the laws there's an executive branch that enforces the laws there's a judicial branch the highest organ of which is the Supreme Court that interprets the laws what's going on with all of these bureaucracies with 4 million plus people making most of the rules t”

The United States must reduce regulatory red tape and streamline clinical trials, such as centralized IRBs and single pivotal trials, to remain competitive with international biotech innovation.

“There is a race and when we came to office we were losing that race. We were behind. we were getting clocked by China, by Australia and other countries that were doing things more efficiently with less red tape”

The biotech industry has become increasingly regulated over time, which has contributed to the deteriorating economic feasibility of drug development.

“Since the birth of this industry, we only had increasing regulation over time. I think there was like only one time in history of biotech where we made it easier to develop an appropriate drug.”

He believes that gene therapy technology will eventually be used by parents to enhance their children's traits beyond medical necessity.

“most people use it for what you're talking about which is like how do we make our sure our kids have the most effective genes or eliminate diseases that they might have but you look at that you're like oh kind of close to this it's frightening but pretty awesome”

He believes that the ethical questions surrounding the modification of human fetuses are too complex because human understanding of science is currently inadequate to safely manipulate such developmen

“There is no [ __ ] way that there's a level of understanding and knowledge base that's like deep enough and correct enough that anything like this should be happening in in any of our lifetimes”
