Joe Marler claims that he originally enjoyed the sport of rugby because it allowed him to channel his aggressive tendencies and provided an environment where that behavior was praised.

“And I went from being told off all the time for whacking people to then playing rugby where I was praised for whacking people. And I Yeah, go on, do it again. I'm like, "This is so confusing." For a child, you one minute you're telling me off, next minute you're praising me.”
