“coming up in the inner city it ain't that many opportunities you know you either want to be a drug dealer burglar or C Thief you know or murderer you know I didn't want none of that and you know um I chose to be a ladies man”

Late 19th-century urban improvements like Corporation Street displaced thousands of poor residents into overcrowded, disease-ridden housing, exacerbating social instability.

“But 5,000 poor people lost their homes down for that for that status symbol. And they were pushed into the surrounding neighborhoods. So the landlords like that there's a higher demand. The rents go up.”
