He advises that people must have clear written agreements when hiring help, especially when inviting someone into their home.

“The moral of the story is you need to be real careful that you have a clear understanding with people you do business with, particularly if they have access to your home and your family, particularly if you're putting your life on hold to move in somewhere. There has to be clear understandings.”

She claims that she was forced to work far beyond the terms of her agreement and that her employer was constantly demanding.

“Anytime that Marcella snapped her fingers, I was supposed to come running. And it didn't matter even when I was sick.”

She believes that the no-pay agreement for room and board was a reasonable, casual arrangement for a live-in nanny.

“I didn't give her exact hours because the hours always changed. I felt this was a very casual agreement. I didn't think it was going to get litigious in any way.”
