“and very disappointing to now look into another case and find out that they almost really screwed this one up too and you know we'll tell you more about that later but it's I don't know what's going on down there in Moab but their their Police Department is is having some issues with investigating”

Law enforcement failed Melanie Curtain by conducting a malicious prosecution and ignoring exculpatory evidence in her case.

“But what I encountered with a lady by the name of Melanie Curtain, [clears throat] now that is a case where I feel the injustice was overwhelming and and and in my opinion, malicious prosecution.”

The implementation of laws requiring violent criminals to submit DNA to a database is vital because it enables the resolution of cold cases.

“I think it's really important to cover cases like this cold cases that have eventually been solved many years later because it gives hope to a lot of other cold cases that maybe one day with advancements in technology new laws things like that that a lot of cases can be solved”

DNA evidence in cold cases should be preserved and tested because it can lead to breakthroughs even decades later.

“that evidence in that case unless it was contaminated before it was collected which is always the possibility or contaminated while it was collected say at the autopsy it is what it is and it's available for testing and further work can be done on it”

“that requires evidence to have been collected with DNA and if they didn't do that then there's nothing I can do and that's sort of the situation that I'm in now is I'm having to make a murder map connect the yarn do all of this because they didn't swipe for fingerprints in the moment”
