Governments have failed to properly control borders, leading to unsustainable levels of illegal and legal migration.

“The way that we in the UK have tried to manage our border has been ridiculous. I mean there's a great irony today that new figures came out about uh legal immigration numbers which are now falling quite precipitously in the UK from a net migration in 2023 of nearly a million people”

Uncontrolled migration is a moral failure that endangers the migrants, harms the socioeconomic position of the host country's poorest citizens, and risks a constitutional crisis.

“It's still immoral to have those people enter the country first illegally and second second at Great risk to themselves in this halfhazard manner and third in a manner that's absolutely in 100% of clear benefit to cartel criminals”

The mayor contends that the influx of migrants is a federal responsibility that has unfairly burdened New York City's budget and resources due to a lack of federal border management.

“My position was no city should take on a federal responsibility and that was my advocacy. I went to Washington 10 times, you know, to speak with the lawmakers. I met with the president twice, President Biden twice around this issue and his people were they were giving him misinformation.”
