He believes that wrestlers in his era set a standard where matches were more real and intense than in the rest of the wrestling world.

“You got to understand back in the day like we were we were we were setting a different standard where where you know stuff stuff was a a lot more real than than things were in the rest of the wrestling world on the planet, you know what I mean? So we were laying stuff in mostly all the time.”

Sabu states that he did not enjoy participating in barbed wire matches but performed them because he was good at them.

“it was just another day and uh i'll try hard i could do any other time and uh hopefully they like it and the thing was i tried so hard that i was good at it that they thought that i liked doing it but i didn't like doing and”

He views hardcore and deathmatch wrestling as his chosen path and remains committed to the style.

“i wanted to be an extreme wrestler hardcore wrestler i wanted to be ecw style wrestler yeah you know what i mean yeah that's what i wanted to be”
