The term Fidelity is a frustrating buzzword because it is used to demand strict adherence to a curriculum without sufficient explanation.

“That's why I always tell people if you walk in and see like a very nicely decorated classroom like the ones on Abbott Elementary, if if they classroom look like that, we bought that stuff ourselves.”

Gabe believes students should not be charged money for their school lunches.

“why do the kids who are legally forced to go to school have to pay to eat their food what about that”

When students provide an incorrect answer, teachers should provide positive reinforcement to avoid crushing the student's confidence.

“even if we didn't get something wrong, put a positive in there like I like where you're going or like I like the way you thought of that or I like that angle and then kind of just like correct it in a different way instead of cuz it's always hard when they like say like a blatantly wrong answer, but”

Substitute teachers should prioritize student safety and basic classroom management rather than following strict academic lesson plans.

“I'll tell the sub like do any of this, do none of this. I don't care. Put on a movie, keep the little people alive, make sure they get home correctly. That's all I want.”

Schools should stop insisting that college is the only path for students.

“we need to stop telling all these kids they have to go to college we need to teach them you'll be engaged or motivate them in their lessons by having them set goals for their career”

Traditional higher education often creates an artificial barrier to discovery by making the cost of failure excessively high, and alternative paths like apprenticeships offer a lower-cost way to exper

“What we have to do is return to a way of educating young people that reduces the cost of experimentation so they can discover things in the way that human beings were designed to discover them through experimentation.”

A higher purpose and deeper passion can be found in teaching and reaching as many people as possible.

“Couple years later, just happens that I start this education company, and it becomes really clear to me that my higher purpose, my deeper passion is to teach and to teach as many people as I can.”

Students can achieve more than expected if provided with high standards and high support, enabling them to learn material faster than in traditional school systems.

“We as parents because of the old system and learning to X or 10 times or learning these life skills running 5K's climbing 40-foot rock walls launching businesses you know Broadway musicals our expectations of what kids do is much lower than what their capability is.”

Educational freedom and school choice are critical components for helping young people break the cycle of disadvantage.

“The third observation of young people who broke the cycle of disadvantage was that they typically benefited from some kind of educational freedom or school choice.”
