Thank you all so much for joining me! In this live we discuss everything from law of attraction, to why Jesus died on the cross, to the masculine and feminine aspects of God. 1. My NDE-like experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN5nJ9LvDIQ&t=170s 2. My Story with Law of Attraction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciE35tHDETQ&t=819s I would like to clarify my comments on the early church's view of the atonement! In this video I made three statements: 1. The early church didn't put a lot of emphasis on the mechanism of the atonement 2. Early Christianity had many different groups with many different opinions about why Jesus died 3. The most widely accepted view of the atonement in the early church was the ransom theory In watching the payback, I realized how contradictory these statements could have seemed. Here's a little more clarification: In the first few centuries there were many Christian groups which included Ebionites, Gnostics, Marcionites, Proto-Orthodox, and more. These groups had different opinions on why Jesus came and why he died (point 2 from above) Specifically within what became the Orthodox group, for the first few centuries, not a lot of emphasis was put on the "how" of the atonement. Even as late as the council of Nicaea, a mechanism for the atonement was not described. (point 1 from above) Even after atonement theories began to develop, it was not seen as essential to salvation to believe the right atonement theory. After atonement theories began to develop, for the first 1100 years until Anselm, the ransom theory of the atonement was the predominant theory (point 3 from above)
