Who are the Top 5 Active Rappers in 2021? Although we have albums like Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, J.Cole's The Off-Season and Travis Scott’s Utopia on the way this year, 2021 has been off to a slow start due to the lack of new albums. Nonetheless, over the last two years, we’ve seen new artists build their names and veteran rappers start to enter their prime. This episode takes you through our top 5 lists of the best active rappers in hip hop right now. In order to make this list, the artist must have released a solo studio album in either 2020 or 2021. We also decided to not include artists such as Kid Cudi, Drake, or Lil Wayne since they’ve already reached superstardom. We chose these artists based on personal preference, their commercial success, and their originality within the hip hop world. Perhaps this list will change as we start getting new rap albums in 2021 but for now we made these choices based on the current climate in hip hop. The 2010s decade saw artists such as J.Cole, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West have control over mainstream hip hop but as we now enter a new decade things may change.
