Two cases, two states, and the same thing sitting in a filing cabinet in both of them. Ohio approved a marriage license in 2008 for a fifteen-year-old girl who was seven months pregnant. California deputies wrote a report in February of 2024 after telling David Burke exactly how old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was. Somebody signed both. The full discussion, all three segments in one: the d4vd preliminary hearing evidence, who David Burke was before any of it, and the Siders 16 kids case out of Vinton County, Ohio. In Los Angeles, an LAPD criminalist testified that presumptive testing reacted strongly on the rubber mats covering a Hollywood Hills garage floor and on the bricks beneath them. It also reacted on a rowing machine, a green tarp, and a trash bag containing wipes. She described a blue inflatable pool that looked clean and smelled almost like laundry, with one area that still glowed. A second criminalist matched plastic fragments recovered during the autopsy into the cuts in that pool. Defense attorney Blair Berk built her cross on everything nobody tested. Tony and Robin hand every exhibit to the defense and ask how it gets explained. Then they trace David Burke backwards — homeschooled after seventh grade, gospel music only until thirteen, signed to a major label at seventeen, and an alter ego named Itami who commits murders in his own videos. And then Robin Dreeke, retired FBI special agent, joins for the Siders case. Sixteen children removed from a home in Hamden. A room the sheriff described as roughly twelve by twelve. An attorney general who said that waiting longer would very likely have meant a death or multiple deaths. Four adults charged with sixteen counts each of endangering children, all pleading not guilty. Two cases with nothing in common except the part that matters. Somebody had the information. Nobody moved. Burke has pleaded not guilty and denies all wrongdoing. Celeste Rivas Hernandez was fourteen years old.
