Lindsay Clancy mistrial fallout now includes a Rule 25 fight, a reported 11-1 jury split, and Kevin Reddington asking President Donald Trump to weigh in on a Massachusetts murder case. The request cannot produce a presidential pardon because Clancy faces state charges, but Reddington says he made it to seek help as the Plymouth County District Attorney decides what comes next. The legal pressure campaign follows one of the prosecution's most disputed trial themes. Medical witnesses described the cuts to Clancy's neck and wrists as superficial, while her fall from a second-story window caused a spinal injury that left her paralyzed. Reddington argued prosecutors were trying to portray her attempt on her own life as fake and used the severity of the fall to attack that theory. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4 after roughly 38 hours of deliberations over seven days. Reddington and jurors who later spoke publicly described the split as 11-1 in favor of acquittal based on lack of criminal responsibility. An emergency Supreme Judicial Court bid over the holdout juror was denied, and a spectator was arrested after allegedly filming jurors outside the courthouse. The Commonwealth has not announced whether it will retry Clancy. The next courtroom fight is set for September 29. The court scheduled that date for status, trial assignment, and argument on the defense's Rule 25 request for a required finding of not guilty, which asks the judge to rule that the evidence was legally insufficient to sustain a conviction. Bob Motta of Defense Diaries and defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis join Tony Brueski to examine whether the prosecution's presentation hurt its case and what Reddington can realistically accomplish now. Reddington has also said he would not accept a resolution requiring jail time. They break down the Rule 25 motion, retrial leverage, the reported jury split, and why the Trump request may still function as pressure on the people controlling the state case.
