On a December night in 1991, four teenage girls — Amy Ayers, Sarah Harbison, Jennifer Harbison, and Eliza Thomas — were working at a North Austin yogurt shop when they were brutally murdered. By morning, the shop had been burned to the ground, the girls were gone, and an entire community was left in shock. What followed was a years-long investigation marked by false confessions, disputed evidence, and critical clues destroyed in the fire. For decades, the case remained one of Austin’s most devastating and controversial unsolved mysteries. Now, more than 30 years later, investigators say they finally know who was responsible.
