Cold cases can be solved if they are worked consistently and never abandoned.

“I'm convinced we can solve cases generally if they're worked. But they must be worked constantly until it's solved.”

Cold cases can still be solved decades later through persistent efforts and public awareness.

“if the lady of the dunes the boy in the Box the Summerton man if all those things can be can be solved I mean decades and decades and decades later this can be sof”

She believes that the Tara Baker case would not have been solved without the recent advancements in DNA technology.

“Had it not been for the advance in DNA technology, no. I don't think that this case would have been solved because that's what made all the difference, right?”

He claims that increased funding for cold case units leads to more successful case resolutions through the use of newer technologies.

“Just getting money for cold cases is uh tremendously important. Those cities and counties that have been able to do that are solving cases at a great clip because there are so many more technologies that can be put to good effect in doing so.”

Law enforcement agencies frequently struggle with cold cases because they lack the necessary manpower to handle them effectively.

“I know law enforcement struggles with these cases quite a bit because they just don't have the manpower to handle them.”

She holds the view that the Tamla Horsford case was mishandled and that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

“There's so many theories and speculation as to what happened. I'll mention some, at least the ones that I kept seeing over and over and over again, but there are a ton out there.”

Josh Thomas believes the police investigation was ineffective and poorly conducted because they prematurely deemed the case inactive without sufficient evidence.

“i was just like stupid oh man that's just bad police work honestly like there's this lack of experience i'd say in disappearance cases because it's like there are not that many cases out there where women disappear with kids on their own accord”

Megyn Kelly believes the Kansas City Police Department failed by not providing updates to the parents of Baby Lisa.

“I find it appalling that they haven't contacted you in years. You don't even get an annual phone call from a police officer saying, "We're still looking into it. We haven't forgotten about you."”

The police departments investigating the Asenath Dukat case utilized proper resources and did not simply ignore leads.

“I don't see a situation where the police put on blinders. They called in the FBI. They sent physical evidence to the FBI. They asked for people with better resources for their help.”

Genetic genealogy testing should be mandated for cold cases that have remained unsolved for five years.

“And so if if in 5 years you haven't solved the case, if there's anything there, I do think we have to open it up to genealogologists. We do it at Break Investigative Group, my firm, all the time.”

The host advocates for the potential utility of using forensic genealogy to help solve cold cases in Japan.

“As I mentioned earlier, Japan has really stringent privacy laws around DNA, and those laws really limit how DNA can be used. And so far, the country has not explored forensic genealogy, which has been very effective here in the United States, resolving decades old crimes.”
