Recorded Sep 14, 2021 at 92nd Street Y. Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead (The Underground Railroad, The Nickel Boys) opens the Poetry Center’s 83rd season with a presentation of his new novel, Harlem Shuffle. A love letter to 1960s New York, Harlem Shuffle is a family saga masquerading as a crime novel, a hilarious morality play, and a social novel about race and power. “Whitehead is a splendidly talented writer, with more range than any other American novelist,” writes George Saunders. “He can be funny, lyrical, satirical, earnest—whatever is needed by the work.” Subscribe for more videos like this: http://bit.ly/1GpwawV Facebook: http://facebook.com/92ndStreetY Instagram: http://Instagram.com/92ndStreetY Twitter: https://twitter.com/92Y Tumblr: http://92y.tumblr.com/ Archives: http://www.92y.org/archives
