Mica Miller served her husband, pastor John-Paul Miller, divorce papers on April 25, 2024. Forty-eight hours later, she was found dead at a North Carolina state park. She had told a friend JP threatened to put a bullet in her head and make it look like she did it herself. He was verified to be in Charleston at the time and has not been charged in her death. Her death was ruled a suicide. The next morning, Miller stood in front of his Myrtle Beach congregation and preached a full Sunday service before addressing it. He later claimed he tried to raise her from the dead. Four days after that, witnesses saw him at a bar with congregant Suzie Skinner — whose wheelchair-bound Army veteran husband was found drowned in a community pool in September 2021 after confronting Miller about an alleged affair. JP married Suzie thirteen months later, with armed guards and no children present. None of this happened in isolation. Mica moved to Myrtle Beach at 15 to work at Solid Rock Church and told police JP had controlled her since childhood. A federal indictment filed in December 2025 alleges seventeen months of cyberstalking — tracking devices, more than fifty contacts in a single day, and interference with her finances and medical care. She filed at least eight police reports. He held healthcare power of attorney over her. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott calls the 48 hours after Mica left him the deadliest window there is.
