In 2025 the right won every presidential election held in the region. Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Honduras. Then Peru, by fewer than fifty thousand votes. Argentina elected a self-described anarcho-capitalist who campaigned with a chainsaw. El Salvador re-elected a president who locked up 2% of his own adult population. Colombia went right too. A continent that spent the 2000s nationalising oil and expanding welfare is now voting for handcuffs, border walls, and balanced budgets. The big question then…is how and why?
