CLOSING ARGUMENTS! 🔴 LIVE: Kelsey Fitzsimmons bench trial resumes with day 4. A cop shot inside her own home. Two completely different versions of what happened. One judge to decide it all. North Andover police officer Kelsey Fitzsimmons goes on trial today for assault with a dangerous weapon — a felony that carries up to 5 years in prison. The charge stems from a June 30, 2025 incident where fellow officers arrived at her home to serve a restraining order obtained by her then-fiancé and to take custody of her four-month-old son. Fitzsimmons was shot in the chest by Officer Noonan and spent weeks in the hospital with a collapsed lung. Prosecution says she pointed her service weapon at Noonan. The defense says she was in the middle of a mental health crisis and the gun was pointed at herself. Fitzsimmons made the strategic decision to waive her right to a jury trial. Judge Jeffrey Karp in Essex County Superior Court will decide her fate — and the trial is expected to be over by Thursday.
