Imogen chats with the new President and CEO of BC Hydro, Charlotte Mitha, for an insightful conversation about the future of clean energy in British Columbia and beyond. BC Hydro delivers electricity to over five million customers across the province, an impressive 98% of it from clean energy sources, primarily thanks to their 82 hydroelectric dams. Their power grid also connects all the way down to California through the western interconnection, allowing them to trade hydro power for solar energy across borders. Charlotte brings a unique and thoughtful perspective to the role, shaped by her background as a trained engineer and years of experience within BC Hydro. In this conversation, Imogen explores Charlotte’s vision for the future, the goals ahead, and the pressing challenges of meeting rapidly growing electricity demand. With major infrastructure projects underway, systems to upgrade, and the need to engage and educate consumers, it’s a crucial moment for energy leadership in British Columbia.
