What do you do when someone you thought you could trust does something so out of character that you’re caught completely off guard? At first you don’t think too much of it, but then you start to notice there’s actually a pattern – of control, manipulation, and coldness. It’s those little manipulations where they deny something happened or downplay it that really start to chip away at your sense of reality, your confidence, and your sense of self – and before you know it, you don’t even recognize yourself anymore. The sad truth is, manipulators are masters at making you doubt your own reality, and by the time you realize what’s happening, you’re already trapped in their web. And that’s why on today’s episode of Women of Impact, we are diving deep into how these dangerous people – like psychopaths and predators you expect would be SO obvious to spot – are actually the ones hiding in plain sight and waiting for their opportunity. Here to pull back the curtain on exactly how dangerous people operate right under our noses is cold case investigator Paul Holes. This guy spent years hunting down some of the most elusive predators out there, including the infamous Golden State Killer. And what he’s sharing today is going to make you rethink everything you thought you knew about spotting danger. We go deep into: - Signs to look for when dating or meeting someone new that could be giveaways that something is actually “off” about them - Why some of the most dangerous people are often the ones who seem the most “normal” - How people like the Golden State Killer can hide in plain sight for DECADES, all while committing horrific crimes - And how YOU can spot those subtle signs of manipulation and control that most people don’t see until it’s unfortunately too frikin’ late The reality is guys, that psychopaths are often hiding behind the “normal” people you see every day – the barista making your coffee, your co-worker that everyone loves, or even your boyfriend that you’ve been with for MONTHS. But by the end of this episode, you’ll know the giveaway signs that a predator is trying to trick you and blend into everyday life, and how YOU can protect yourself and the people you love from these predators, abusers, manipulators who just want to get power and control over you. "If the man starts to strangle you, puts his hands around your neck, he's going to kill you. That is basically him needing to express his anger at a point by taking it out to a homicidal act. That's huge." "That woman is just out there living her life, and he just happened, you know, this is why he's a predator. He's waiting for the prey to come." "Just because you're academically smart doesn't mean you are good at committing these crimes." "Very last thing I did as a law enforcement officer was to drive up to D'Angelo's house so I could see where he lived because it was like a prime suspect. And I parked on the curb across from the house, and his yard was immaculate. His car was super clean, you know, and I was like, wow, fastidious, you know, which was interesting, because after he's arrested and I got inside his house, it was a pigsty."
