Thank you to today’s sponsor - Paleovalley: 15% off https://bit.ly/WOIPaleovalley Ever left a conversation replaying it over and over in your head… wishing you’d stood up for yourself, set a boundary, or just NOT lost your cool? Yeah, you and the rest of us, my friend! The honest truth? We women have spent YEARS being told our emotions are “too much” – so it’s no wonder that when conflict strikes, we feel triggered, shut down, or totally lose our confidence in the heat of the moment. Well, screw that old playbook! On this episode of Women of Impact, I sit down with negotiation expert, Kwame Christian to break down the ULTIMATE toolkit for staying calm, confident, and totally unshakeable during difficult conversations – whether it’s with your partner, your boss, or that one friend who just loves to push your buttons. Kwame’s compassionate approach isn’t about “winning” the argument or steamrolling your feelings. This is about getting REAL with your emotions, understanding what’s really going on under the surface, and standing up for what you need—without guilt, shame, or losing your power. Here’s what we dig into: - The shockingly simple “name it to tame it” strategy neuroscientists SWEAR by for calming down when you feel triggered. - Why so many of us nail those “shower comebacks” but freeze up in real life (hint: your brain isn't failing you, it just needs this one tweak!) - The secret to setting boundaries—without the soul-crushing guilt trip or caving to accusations of “selfishness.” - How to outsmart gaslighting, defuse passive-aggressive digs, and stop letting other people determine your worth (YES, even in that “cocky smirk” scenario!). - Why the truth is often way less important than the stories you’re both telling yourselves… and how to shift the conversation for real connection. - Actionable scripts you can use in those “fork-in-the-road” moments, so you don’t spiral—or blow up—the relationship you actually care about. By the end of this episode, you’ll have a step-by-step framework for handling any tough talk—and the real self-respect to know when to walk away if you’re not being valued. So homie – if you’ve ever been told you’re “too emotional,” struggled to ask for what you actually WANT, or just want to stop replaying arguments and start feeling empowered? Kwame’s insights and will give you everything you need to break old habits, say what you mean, and finally feel confident holding your ground. Drop your favorite aha moments in the comments and let us know: What’s the ONE tool you’re going to start using TODAY to stay calm, set boundaries, and reclaim your power in every conversation?!
