Something many of you don’t know about me is that I had vitiligo as a teenager. I was still too young then to know about my self image or what other people thought of me. But I do remember how worried my family were for me, the panic, the consultations, the treatments 🩺 With a lot of work, my vitiligo eventually faded but weirdly that’s when my panic set in. I got older and I became so much more aware of societal beauty standards and your place within them. I panicked at the thought of it coming back, I knew exactly what people would think/stare at me for. I can now say, I’m a lot more confident in my body… but your self image being defined by your skin is still a very real problem for so many of us! 😔 Vitiligo is merely a skin ‘difference’, a matter of pigmentation. It is not contagious, it is not dangerous and it does not change anything about your ability to live life. The only ‘fear’ is from society, a world that teaches you that being different and standing out is wrong and that our skin colours define our status. In this episode, Shankar @thevitiligoman and I talk about how vitiligo affects self-esteem and intimacy, how do we learn to love our bodies even as the world is teaching us otherwise! I am hugely proud of the work that Shankar does through is handle @thevitiligoman to help people overcome the challenges that come with this 💕 If you would like advice from Seema Anand, send us a brief question/message to: ✉️Seema Anand: info.seema.anand@gmail.com Latest in Seema Anand Storytelling: 🎧 The 3000 step stories - https://anchor.fm/seemaanand Seema Anand Book: The Arts of Seduction: The 21st century guide to having the greatest s3x of your life 📚 https://www.amazon.in/Seema-Anand/e/B07FZWZNP8/ref=dp_byline_cont_pop_book_1 Official Social Profiles of Seema Anand (Don't forget to follow and subscribe) 🌐 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv8O9vXuvJGY7PAy_rohQpA 🌐 https://www.facebook.com/groups/960439877368429 🌐 https://www.instagram.com/seemaanandstorytelling/?hl=en Make sure to like, comment and subscribe as we post a new question every Sunday. ***Disclaimer: No attachments please, and they will not be looked at.
