Sandra Birchmore's medical examiner took the stand at Matthew Farwell's federal murder trial on October 26, 2026, five years after she ruled Sandra's death a suicide. Canton police had told Dr. María del Mar Capó-Martínez's office it was a suicide with a scarf around Sandra's neck, and it was a duffel bag strap. She testified she was never shown the last video of Sandra alive. She told the jury, "I was not asked to consider whether this was a homicide." On May 1, 2021, the State Police supervisor on the case emailed her office that there was nothing new to report, and five days later she ruled suicide. In spring 2026 she changed the manner of death to undetermined, and she testified she wasn't pressured. I also break down Farwell's twin brother admitting, under immunity, that he was with Sandra while on duty. His testimony resumes October 27.
