“Selfcensorship is driven by fear. Again, you believe on some level, usually very unconscious, that you are going to be punished if you express what is true. If I am honest with you right now, you are going to ostracize me. You're going to abandon me. You're going to reject me.”

He acknowledges that the industry, specifically comedy, is small and hyper-vigilant, leading people to fear losing their careers if they express dissenting opinions.

“The industry that we come from, unfortunately, it's a very small circle and it's everybody's watching everybody all the time. Right. point where when I was sort of in the place that you described where you came across people who were doing stuff online that you thought, "Oh, I'm learning something."”
