Dr. Phil defines catfishing as the act of stealing an identity and assuming a false backstory to engage individuals in deceptive relationships.

“For people that don't know, we've been using the term catfish, and that refers to someone that takes someone else's identity as their own, pretends to be them, engages other people for the purpose of creating a false relationship, whatever, a number of reasons, whatever, but it's a false relationshi”

Ron acknowledges that he was deceived by someone posing as a woman named Misty Kennedy and feels disgusted by the manipulation.

“I'm disgusted with it I mean what kind of person could do this you know I mean to mess with somebody's whole family she's messed with you for 17 months at the weakest moment in your life”

Bailey acknowledges that her actions in contacting someone who requested she stop constituted a violation of consent.

“I would never have continued to to message her, to do the things that I did, had I not felt like there was something. And so to see that and to see her say that in that video, it just it's not I just I want to apologize to her.”

Phil ThatRemains admits that assuming a false male identity and pursuing relationships with women was wrong.

“It's wrong to hurt people the way I have.”
