He believes it is important to balance conservation with the hunting community's engagement.

“The science is is heavily important, but if you don't have a hunting community there to appreciate that resource, then how far is it going to get you?”

He believes that turkey populations in Mississippi are currently strong and have seen successful hatches in recent years.

“The last four to five years, we've had outstanding hatches. And right now we have as many turkeys as I've seen in my lifetime.”

He believes that if Arkansas returned to its earlier turkey season, it would not negatively impact turkey conservation.

“I do think they could put the Alabama season over back to the way that it was and it would be fine.”
