Electric vehicles are on an inescapable trajectory toward mainstream adoption and are increasingly cost-effective compared to petrol vehicles.

“I feel EVS are on a really positive inescapable trajectory so at some point yeah shipping Aviation are challenging but as you say yeah they make up a much smaller percentage of global emissions”

Electric vehicles provide a more enjoyable and superior driving experience compared to traditional petrol cars while offering environmental and health advantages.

“I think people want to do the right thing of course they do like everybody's invested in leaving things better for their children and grandchildren. I think that sort of goes without saying, but we also would like a dollop of joy and a bit of fun in our lives. And I don't think there's anything wron”

Government subsidies are artificially propping up the primary electric vehicle market, while the secondary market reflects their actual, lower value.

“the primary Market is propped up artificially by these incentives the secondary Market doesn't have incentives and so that's where you see the actual value of these cars and it is yikes”

He thinks that the business model for electric vehicle companies failed to live up to the unrealistic predictions regarding market adoption.

“Everybody had pie in the sky predictions about where EV adoption was going to be and it just never happened.”

He believes the push by automakers into electric vehicles has been a bad business decision.

“I think this was a bad idea but I think it was already on the product plan and Pat you've consulted we've consulted with companies you know sometimes we ask them why did you do that well we've been planning it for three years all the effort went into it we we just went through with it”

The Chinese government is using massive subsidies and overproduction to unfairly drive international competitors, including Tesla, out of the market.

“all of this was facilitated not by creating better products not by innovating but by Massive subsidies from the Chinese communist government we've arguably never seen anything like this”

The environmental and ethical costs associated with mining materials for EV batteries, such as cobalt, make the push for electric vehicles problematic.

“The most important one, frankly, is this. The stuff that goes into the batteries, the lithium, the cobalt, the nickel has to be mined uh produced and manufactured somewhere. And most of it is either done in China or places controlled by China like the Congo in Africa.”
