The United States should reconsider its participation in NATO because member nations have consistently failed to meet their defense spending obligations and have taken advantage of American support.

“but I think that the idea that the United States should be able to should have the the sovereignty to decide when the the us is going to actually use military force and not be you know told what they have to do by other countries I think that's that's a good thing for the United States”

Tucker Carlson believes that NATO should be dissolved because its presence on foreign soil strips countries of their sovereignty and degrades their self-respect.

Let's say that's his real goal. It's still wouldn't have been a good idea for Blinken to basically declare that ”

Post-1991 NATO expansion was an American-driven project to maintain hegemony rather than a genuine response to security concerns regarding Russia.

“the United States insists on expanding NATO for reasons that have nothing to do with European security at all. It's detrimental to European security when you have a Russia that really wants to come in.”

Trump successfully pressured NATO members to meet their financial obligations, which he is entitled to do as a negotiator.

“So, he pushed them to do things they should do for years. So, I don't understand criticism when what he did, what he said about NATO is true. How can you be upset that he doesn't want you he doesn't want to be your private bodyguard?”

“what he's doing as stated openly with regard to Nato for example is he's getting everybody else to pay they're afraid he says okay well if you want to make sure that NATO actually does its job then all you other nations have to increase your defense spending”
