The country music industry experienced a negative shift in culture when original, patriotic, and talented leaders were replaced by individuals from New York and LA who sought to control the artists.

Jelly Roll believes that Beyonce's country album was a piece of art worthy of a nomination and that her inclusion in the genre is ultimately beneficial.

“I think that the body of art was incredible there's no denying that like I always take take all politics out of it before we even talk about those what did the art actually say was it good right and the record was good”

The country music industry is exclusionary and skepticism towards artists who do not fit the traditional mold is a significant hurdle.

“When I first got to Nashville, they they thought all my stuff was fake. They thought I was lying. And like they would they weren't playing me on the radio. And so for me, I'm like, what else what else more do I got to do?”
