“I understand the mechanics. You both left your jobs, you bought a house, you got married. I get that. Do you know why all of that happened? firefighting was making her miserable.”

“It's a very disruptive dynamic for everybody. Like there's no space for anybody. It's very stressful.”

Megan feels overwhelmed and helpless regarding their current debt and potential utility shutoffs.

“We're a month behind on our mortgage. Um getting a shut off notice for our gas account, you know, our our electrical accounts in uh payment plan. It is just everything is so overwhelming for me.”

There is a persistent feeling of frustration and division in the relationship due to their current financial situation.

“I think we just get so frustrated cuz I think we know how much debt we're in and we don't know how to fix it and we don't have you know much income coming in to save us. We not asking family cuz we already asked them, right? So we are just I think we get frustrated at each other.”

“Overwhelmed, like in over our heads, like we were drowning and just kind of like it was an inevitable drowning from how close the contracts were.”

Grace believes that the pressure she feels to manage finances and provide for her family has caused her immense strain and guilt.

“Having the the sole responsibility of organizing the money and you know, putting it where it needs to be. It's it but it feels just a huge amount of pressure and then just the thought of not having any money coming in with the with the maternity leave and then things are just a little bit complicate”

James believes that taking a more active role in managing the household finances helps reduce his personal anxiety about their financial security.

“I am feeling a lot more secure in us as a family and as our finances. I'm a lot less worried. I feel I feel like I'm getting a lot less worried about money. It's still there, obviously. Um but kind of seeing it all, being more involved in it again, is helping a lot with the kind of anxiety that I wa”
