The grand jury process in the Comey case was severely flawed due to false instructions, tainted witnesses, and procedural errors.

“We've reported on all of the other defects that took place in the grand jury room with Comey, whether it was Hallagan giving false instructions about the law to the jury, whether it was Hallagan not even securing an operative indictment as it relates to Comey”

The host believes the Canadian legal system's focus on rehabilitating the juvenile perpetrator was the correct legal approach, even if it feels unsatisfying compared to more punitive standards.

“From an intellectual standpoint, I feel that the Canadian justice system got this right. She [ __ ] up in an incomprehensible and unforgivable way, yet the rehabilitation she received appears to have worked, and as far as anyone knows, she's gone on to become a sane, productive, and law-abiding memb”

The US judicial system is flawed and often results in outcomes that feel unjust because of political motivations and systemic biases.

“That everyone deserves a defense and that the criminal justice system is not perfect and it is not just a lot of the time.”

The Department of Justice's current legal filings show a deep disrespect for the judicial process.

“I find so many of the excuses from Todd Blanch to just ring either whole who wholesale untrue, just lies on their face or this level of just disrespect for the judicial process.”

He believes the American people need to hold the Trump administration accountable for not meeting court-ordered deadlines, rather than relying on Congress to enforce compliance.

“Congress isn't going to go after the presidency. They're not Congress isn't going to file a lawsuit to to make him comply with their deadline. So, what? Somebody in the American people is going to do it. One of the public interest groups.”

Steven Bonnell argues that temporary restraining orders issued by judges represent emergency legal mandates that must be complied with immediately rather than delayed through bureaucratic evasion.

“The whole point of a trro is that it's an emergency thing that needs to be followed immediately why the [ __ ] are you letting these things get dragged out by [ __ ] weeks weeks and weeks months”

He argues that prosecutors are now facing increased scrutiny from grand juries that are rightfully demanding more evidence and information.

“These prosecutors, people are looking at these prosecutors now with cross eyes. They're going to now have to provide a whole lot more information, I believe, to these grand juries before which these grand juries come back with that 98%, you know, uh, acknowledgment of the indictments.”

Special grand juries investigate complex cases while ordinary grand juries evaluate testimony to decide whether to issue indictments.

“a special grand jury is what Georgia um convenes in order to look at a sprawling case because you don't want to to try and do everything in a month it's going to take a long time you put together a special grand jury but what a special grand jury does is it investigates”
