Charlie Day feels that he channels some of his own real-life maniacal tendencies through the character he plays on the show.

“i think i get to channel some of my psychosis through your character too which is a fun thing which is sometimes i'm like well i sometimes feel crazy like a maniac but it's not gonna it's not gonna seem right like but can i pitch you some stuff”

Glenn Howerton admits that he struggles with intense frustration and rage in his personal life and has not yet figured out how to fix it.

“i rage a lot in my life i don't know why yeah i get very frustrated i get very frustrated about things and i rage but it's been really interesting because you know this is something i don't like about myself and i want to fix it but i haven't been able to address it yet or figure out how to fix it y”
