The bin Laden raid was a success, but the political maneuvering surrounding the narrative, particularly the lack of credit for the operators and the self-promotion by senior leaders, is frustrating.

“None of the 24 operators that were on the mission um were getting any credit for it. Right. It was all the heroic decision-making in Washington DC. And so, so that's when I I knew I was getting out.”

The Operator believes that military leadership failed to properly prioritize the mental and personal well-being of the individual operators who participated in the mission.

“Not any second in there was any leadership ever worrying about the individual operator. Brand new. Everybody was excited to be there, right? Okay. Eighth deployment, ninth deployment, 10th deployment. Nobody was ever checking in like, "Hey, Sean, are you okay?"”
